(Parti socialiste unifié)
The Parti socialiste unifié (PSU), was a French political party that was founded in April 1960 and dissolved in November 1989. it was formed from two groups, the union de la gauche socialiste and the Parti socialiste autonome, and was composed of former members of the Section française de l'internationale ouvrière who refused to accept the agreement between that party and charles de gaulle following the events of may 1958 in Algeria. The PSU was joined by some former Communists and by political figures such as pierre mendès France. Led by Michel rocard from 1967 to 1974, the PSU, which endorsed an independent path to socialism, supported the movement of may 1968. After 1974, the PSU worked with the Socialist Party and was part of the government from 1981 to 1984.
